Council Call For Sites

Council Call For Sites

Planning Consultations Open

A number of Councils in Kent have now begun work on new Local Plans for their areas, meaning there are currently several planning consultations open for landowners and developers to consider.

Ashford Borough Council are re-opening their Call for Sites consultation, inviting any available land covering a broad range of sites which can be submitted for inclusion in the Local Plan.

To be considered in the Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA), sites must be capable of accommodating 5+ dwellings or economic development on sites of 0.25 hectares (or 500 metres of floorspace) and above. They could include vacant or derelict land, or opportunities for strategic conversions or extensions to existing buildings.

The council is also inviting site submissions for Local Green Space. Please note this has a dedicated site submission form.

If you have land in the Ashford Borough that you believe may have potential for development, ensure it is put forward for consideration.

Consultation is now open until 23rd September 2026 (5pm)

Thanet District Council is carrying out a further Call for Sites, in addition to the two previous consultations. This is Important for anyone who has previously submitted a site as sites put forward during the earlier Call for Sites consultations are being asked to resubmit their sites. This is because the latest Government guidance requires additional information that was not previously required, and sites will now need to be assessed under the new planning system. Any sites that are not resubmitted will not be assessed and considered as part of the process.

If you have land in Thanet that you believe may have potential for development, this is an important opportunity to ensure it is put forward for consideration.

Consultation is now open until 9th October 2026 (5pm)

Swale Borough Council’s Regulation 19 Consultation is still open until 21st September (5pm). This consultation seeks feedback from stakeholders and the community about the Local Plan’s vision, objectives, strategic policies, site allocation policies and development management policies

Folkestone & Hythe have announced their Scoping Consultation. This consultation does not contain details of proposed development sites. The scoping consultation is an opportunity to tell the Council what you think the key issues are for the district, what the Local Plan should cover, and how they should engage with communities as the plan is prepared.

Your comments will help inform the next stages of the Local Plan process, including the development of the plan’s vision, objectives, evidence base and future policy content. They will also help develop the council’s Communications and Engagement Strategy for future consultations.

Consultation is now open until 16th October 2026 (5pm)
